Sunderland manager Mick McCarthy admits there has been interest from other clubs in a number of his players, and knows he must let some of them go before he can start rebuilding.

Striker Kevin Phillips, goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen and young midfielder Matt Piper have all been linked with moves away from the Stadium of Light, but McCarthy has yet to receive firm offers for any of them.
