Rovers close in on Gresko deal

Vratislav Gresko is close to settling his personal dispute with Parma and completing his £1.5m (€2.08m) move to Blackburn.

The Slovakian full-back made a huge impression at Ewood Park after moving to England on loan during the January transfer window, making 10 Premiership appearances, and manager Graeme Souness was keen to keep the 25-year-old on board.

However, though the two clubs agreed a fee for Gresko, the deal looked like being scuppered when the player was unable to reach an agreement with Parma over settlement of the outstanding period of his contract.

However, Rovers chief executive John Williams has today confirmed the dispute has almost been resolved and Gresko will soon be free to complete the transfer.

“Vratislav’s situation over there is being resolved and once that is rubber-stamped we can start negotiations with him over personal terms here,” Williams told www.rovers.co.uk.

Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that skipper Garry Flitcroft has agreed a new three-year deal with the club and is expected to sign shortly.
