Jason Byrne topped and tailed this game with his sixth and seventh goals of the season to earn Shels a point and put them back top of the table.

Byrne hit his first after just 33 seconds when latching onto Kevin Doherty's through ball.

But St Pat's stormed back. Karim El Khebir and Tony Bird combined to force Doherty into turning the ball into his own net for the equaliser on 55 minutes.

Paul Osam then headed Pat's in front from Kevin Fahy's corner two minutes later.

But Byrne struck again ten minutes from time when blasting home Richie Baker's cross.
