McInnes wants Baggies to regain pride
Derek McInnes has called upon West Brom to regain their pride in the final two matches of the season after the six-goal mauling by Liverpool last weekend.
McInnes admitted that he was embarrassed by what he described as âthe worst result of my careerâ â and the heaviest by the Baggies in 125 years at The Hawthorns.
The Scotland international insists that Albion have to repay the supporters after being on the end of a four-goal salvo from Michael Owen.
West Brom bring down the curtain on their relegation season at Blackburn on Saturday and then at home to Newcastle on May 11.
McInnes said: âWe need to give something back to the supporters. To lose in the manner we did was embarrassing and I am extremely disappointed to have been part of that.
âIt is the worst result I have had in my career and I never want to go through anything like that again. There is no excuse for what happened.
âBut hopefully we can get something in the last two games. It is important that we give something back to the supporters.
âThey have given us great backing this season and have carved out a reputation for their support across the country. We owe them one for Saturday.
âThere will be a few thousand of them at Blackburn and we have to try and give them something to cheer about. We need to put on a performance for the fans and the whole club.
âWe have to try and win some pride back, try to pick up some points and make sure the Liverpool game is not the game they will remember at the end of this season.â
Meanwhile, midfielder Sean Gregan is battling to overcome a hamstring injury in time to be fit for the trip to Ewood Park.
