We must learn from mistakes, says Keane
Manchester United skipper Roy Keane admitted his side must start learning some vital lessons after another suffering another disappointingly early exit at the hands of Real Madrid last night.
David Beckham came off the bench to score two late goals to give United a thrilling 4-3 win but by that time the tie was lost as Ronaldoâs brilliant hat-trick ensured the nine-times European Cup winners a last four clash with Juventus.
It was the third time in four years since winning the trophy that Alex Fergusonâs men have bowed out at the quarter-final stage and Keane is becoming frustrated.
âWe keep getting these lessons and the penny has to finally drop,â he said.
âWe canât keep giving goals away to teams like Real Madrid. Once again we have had plenty of chances but we keep giving ourselves a mountain to climb and we havenât been able to rise to the challenge.
âWe donât need reminding that we keep giving the same kind of goals away.
âWe have had plenty of disappointments in Europe now. We keep getting to the quarter-finals but it is that next step of going on to win the trophies.
âA lot of teams get so far but it is going that final few yards.â
