Villa's Ellis vows to beat cancer

Aston Villa chairman Doug Ellis today expressed his determination to beat prostate cancer.

Ellis confirmed he is currently undergoing treatment but said his cancer has been diagnosed at a very early stage and is totally treatable.

Ellis said: “The treatment has not affected me in any way and my doctors have confirmed that the recovery rate is excellent.

“I have overcome many obstacles in my life and this is simply another obstacle I shall beat.

“I have not been diverted from my normal full-time commitment to Aston Villa Football Club and right now my only concern is to maintain our membership of the FA Premier League.”
