Figo gives Madrid lead

Luis Figo has given Real Madrid the lead against Manchester United after just 12 minutes.

Figo's swirling cross-shot from the left went over the flapping Fabien Barthez into the far corner of the United goal to give Madrid the lead.

It was hard to tell whether Figo meant to shoot or cross the ball.

Earlier Iker Casillas has made a fine save from a vicious Paul Scholes shot after 10 minutes of tonight's Champions League clash.

Just two minutes later Ruud van Nistelrooy has shot over with a spectacular effort from just seven yards out.
