McAteer targets Chelsea return

Sunderland midfielder Jason McAteer is hoping for a first chance to remind former Republic of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy exactly what he can do when Chelsea head north on Saturday.

The 31-year-old, whose goal against Holland effectively fired the Republic into last summer’s World Cup finals, is yet to play for the new Black Cats’ manager after picking up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 defeat at Fulham on March 1.
