Southampton knock Norwich out of Cup

Southampton are through to the sixth round of the FA Cup for the first time in nine seasons after a 2-0 win over Norwich at St Mary's.

The Canaries gave as good as they got for 70 minutes and nearly took the lead when Paul McVeigh's curling drive struck a post.

But a minute later, Anders Svensson tapped home the opener and substitute Jo Tessem struck the second in the 74th minute.

To complete Norwich's agony, Malky Mackay was sent off on 82 minutes for a second bookable offence.
