The FAI have called an emergency meeting in Dublin tomorrow to discuss allegations of irregular payments made to former manager Mick McCarthy.

The association has been invited to clarify claims McCarthy was given a hand-out of €160,000 immediately prior to signing a new contract during the World Cup in the summer.

Reports claim McCarthy and his financial advisor Liam Gaskin were approached by a senior FAI official and advised to seek performance related payments.

Meanwhile a new name has entered the running to succeed McCarthy as national boss.

The three-man selection committee has been in England all week interviewing short-listed candidates, and sources claim Frenchman Raymond Domenech will sit down with the FAI delegation in London later today.

The 51-year-old former Lyon boss was on the shortlist for the French national job back in July.
