Hedman is a very lucky Bhoy

Celtic goalkeeper Magnus Hedman is convinced his luck is finally changing after scooping a $6,000 (€5,672) casino windfall in Las Vegas at the start of 2003.

The Swede’s dream summer move from Coventry to Parkhead has been jinxed by calf problems.

But after finding himself in the Celtic side courtesy of a similar injury to number one Robert Douglas, the New Year could not have started any better for him.

“I’m not used to having breaks like this so the kids always go with the grandparents skiing which is traditional so I didn’t want to break up that week,” said Hedman.

“So me and the wife Magdalena went away to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I did win $6,000 (€5,672) on the first day.

“I had a straight flush and a bonus which was absolutely unbelievable and I had to walk away. The wife spent it and got a lot of shopping bags.

“I played a game called ‘Let It Ride’ which was the second time I’ve played it so it was absolutely unbelievable.

“It was good fun because we had her sister and her boyfriend there and it paid for the holiday, which was a nice thing. Hopefully it will be a lucky year.”
