A controversial first half goal kept Shelbourne's title hopes alive at the Brandywell.

Ollie Cahill appeared to control Barry Prenderville's cross with a hand on 33 minutes before shooting past Alan Gough, but referee Ian Stokes gave the goal despite Derry's protests.

Relegation-threatened Derry rallied throughout the second half but Shels' keeper Steve Williams made good stops from Liam Coyle and Tommy McCallion.
