Taylor weighs in behind Gregory

Aston Villa boss Graham Taylor believes predecessor John Gregory did nothing wrong during the transfer deals that are now the subject of a Football Association investigation.

The FA are currently probing the deals which saw Bosko Balaban, Juan Pablo Angel and Alpay arrive at Villa Park during Gregory’s tenure as boss.

Gregory, who left Villa and took over at Derby earlier this year, has denied any wrong-doing.

Taylor told BBC Radio Five Live: “You cannot judge people guilty unless you have got the evidence to show that they are guilty.”

When asked if he thought Gregory was innocent, Taylor replied: “Of course because nobody has proved anything else.

“The knowledge that I have is what people are trying to find out is where did the money go to.

“It is not a question of looking in and saying ’John Gregory didn’t do this’ or ’John Gregory did that’.”
