All change for Sunderland

Sunderland manager Howard Wilkinson will make sweeping changes for Tuesday’s fourth round Worthington Cup tie against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Only goalkeeper Jurgen Macho and midfield pair Gavin McCann and Paul Thirlwell are expected to survive from the side beaten 3-0 at Chelsea on Saturday.

On-loan goalkeeper Mart Poom would have made his debut had he not played in an earlier round for Derby County, but the side is still packed with Premiership experience.

Former club record signing Emerson Thome will link up in central defence with Slovakia international Stanislav Varga and Marcus Stewart and Scotland international Kevin Kyle are partnered in attack.
