The French Football Federation tonight announced they will attempt to impose a playing ban on Nicolas Anelka.

The Manchester City striker declined a late call-up from France boss Jacques Santini to play against Yugoslavia on Wednesday after injury ruled out Lyon’s Sidney Govou yesterday.
