Adam Crozier resigns from FA

The Football Association this evening announced that its Chief Executive, Adam Crozier, has tendered his resignation.

Geoff Thompson, Chairman of The FA, said: "It is with great regret and sadness that I have today accepted Adam Crozier's resignation.

Thompson said the decision by Crozier to resign was based on two key principles:

That the three year change programme he initiated in January 2000 is coming to a natural end.

A difference of opinion over how the game should be run and regulated in the future, within The FA.

"It is on this second issue that Adam does not feel he can compromise and I fully respect his point of view," said Thompson.

Crozier will not step down immediately but will stay on for a "transition" period.

Adam Crozier joined The Football Association in January 2000, taking up the post of Chief Executive.

It was Crozier who brought in Sven-Goran Eriksson to manage the England senior side.
