Leeds striker Robbie Fowler is set to begin his comeback from injury with a reserves outing against Aston Villa tonight.

The former Liverpool hero has been out of action since undergoing hip surgery during United’s pre-season programme.

He has not played a competitive match since featuring as a second half substitute in England’s 3-0 World Cup win over Denmark.

Boss Terry Venables told the Yorkshire Post: “Robbie is on his way back and with Michael Bridges also close to a return things are looking very good in that department.

“Robbie has trained with us and he has looked good so if all goes well then he will be given the chance to play in the reserves.”
