Robbie hoping Sheri magic rubs off
Robbie Keane is hoping Teddy Sheringham will help him continue to mature into one of the world’s top strikers.
Keane was one of the stars of the World Cup, scoring three goals in four games for Ireland.
His total for his country is 14 goals in 39 appearances, which leaves him seven short of Niall Quinn’s all-time record, a figure well within reach for a man who is still only 22.
After a whirlwind of moves which saw Keane play for four clubs in as many years, he has finally settled at Tottenham, where he is forging a strike partnership with former England star Sheringham.
Sheringham has been the perfect foil during his career for such great strikers as Alan Shearer with England, Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke at Manchester United, and Les Ferdinand at Spurs, and now Keane is hoping that some of the Sheri magic works for him too.
“I have been playing with Teddy and we have been linking up a lot better in the last couple of games,” said Keane. “These things take time but it seems to be going very well.”
