The former Rochdale boss took over at Oakwell from Nigel Spackman last November but failed to prevent the South Yorkshire club from being relegated.

The Tykes, who went into administration almost two weeks ago, have won only four of their opening 13 games of the new campaign with the 4-1 home defeat by Bristol City on Saturday the final straw.
