Rioch chases Ipswich job

Former Arsenal manager Bruce Rioch wants to become the new boss of First Division Ipswich Town.

Former Arsenal manager Bruce Rioch wants to become the new boss of First Division Ipswich Town.

Ipswich sacked George Burley on Friday after a disappointing start to the current campaign and Rioch, who still lives in East Anglia following his spell as Norwich boss, admitted he would welcome the opportunity to take over the Portman Road hot-seat.

“Obviously I would have an interest in the position at Ipswich Town,” he told BBC Sport Online.

The 51-year-old, who has not managed a club since parting company with Wigan in February last year, added: “I am extremely sad for George. He has done a wonderful job in the eight years he has been there and is Ipswich through and through.

“But understandably in this industry you are governed by results, and naturally I would be interested in talking to Ipswich Town.”
