The first half of England’s Euro 2004 qualifier against Slovakia in Bratislava was marred by clashes between visiting fans and police.

After two England fans were shot last night, trouble flared in the away end following Szilard Nemeth’s opening goal.

Police wielding batons waded in and seats were thrown as scuffles continued before police mounted a baton charge as the half-time whistle blew.
