Lawyers for Manchester United manger Alex Ferguson have appealed to the South African authorities to speed up his case after he was accused of indecently assaulting a woman in Cape Town.

Taswell Papier, appointed to represent Sir Alex this morning, said he hoped the Director of Public Prosecutions could resolve the matter this weekend, possibly even today.
