Griffen withdraws from Northern Irish squad

Dundee United defender Danny Griffin today withdrew from the Northern Ireland squad to face Spain in a Euro 2004 qualifier on Saturday.

Griffin has returned home to get treatment on a back injury and will be replaced by Wrexham defender Shaun Holmes.

He is the third defender to pull out of the squad with Mark Williams of Wimbledon and Peter Kennedy of Wigan already sidelined.
