North squad loses defender Williams

Wimbledon defender Mark Williams has withdrawn from the Northern Ireland squad to face Spain and Ukraine in Euro 2004 qualifiers.

Williams, who captained the side in the last game against Cyprus, is suffering from a knee injury.

Grant McCann of West Ham has been drafted into the squad for the game in Albacete on Saturday and the match against Ukraine at Windsor Park a week on Wednesday.
