Duff back for Brom clash

Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole were both left on the bench for Blackburn tonight while West Brom boss Gary Megson sprang a major striking surprise of his own.

Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole were both left on the bench for Blackburn tonight while West Brom boss Gary Megson sprang a major striking surprise of his own.

Hawthorns hero Bob Taylor was named in the Baggies starting line-up for the first time since the final day of last season when the 35-year-old scored to seal Albion’s elevation into the top flight.

Rovers boss Graeme Souness – perhaps with one eye on Thursday’s UEFA Cup trip to Bulgaria – refused to risk either of his heavyweight front men after both struggled to shake off hamstring strains.

But he did have the considerable boost of being able to welcome back star winger Damien Duff after three games out with a thigh problem.

Albion’s reshuffle came despite a run of three wins from their last four games, with Scott Dobie left on the bench and Lee Hughes – struggling with injury and loss of form – missing out completely.
