Aston Villa’s Wales international right-back Mark Delaney hopes to make his comeback from a calf strain against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light tomorrow.

Delaney has missed Villa’s last three games with the injury and Villa boss Graham Taylor also has to decide whether to recall central defender Alpay.

Alpay was not even in the squad for last weekend’s game against Everton with Taylor admitting the Turkey international is taking a "reality check" after failing to secure a move away from Villa Park before the transfer window closed.

Taylor also a selection poser in attack with Dion Dublin pressing for his first start of the season after his last-gasp winner against Everton on Sunday. He will pick two strikers from Dublin, Juan Pablo Angel, Darius Vassell, Peter Crouch, Marcus Allback and Stefan Moore.

Team (from): Enckleman, Delaney, Mellberg, Alpay, Johnsen, Staunton, Samuel, De la Cruz, Kinsella, Hendrie, Barry, Vassell, Crouch, Angel, Dublin, Moore, Allback, Leonhardsen, Postma.
