A Gareth McGlynn goal saw Derry stretch their unbeaten run to six matches as Shels' title retention hopes suffered another dent.

McGlynn struck for the only goal of the game on 33 minutes.

Left winger Sean Friars worked the cross in from the left.

Ciaran Martyn back-heeled the ball to set up McGlynn who drilled the ball to the net with the help of a slight deflection.

Stuart Byrne almost levelled late on but his 20-yard drive was brilliantly saved by Derry keeper Alan Gough.
