Bellamy may start for Magpies
Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy could be in line for a Champions League debut in Kiev tomorrow night as Bobby Robson looks for his side to bounce back in style.
The 22-year-old Welshman is favourite to partner skipper Alan Shearer, who will also be making his first appearance in the competition for his home-town club, in attack at the Olympic Stadium after being handed his first start since February in the 3-0 defeat at Chelsea on Saturday.
Bobby Robson flew out to the Ukraine with a squad of 22, including 18-year-old frontman Michael Chopra, selected in the absence of the club’s only injury victim Carl Cort, who damaged a hamstring in training last week.
PROVISIONAL SQUAD: Given, Harper, Karelse, Hughes, Bernard, Elliott, Griffin, Dabizas, O’Brien, Bramble, Speed, Dyer, Solano, Robert, Jenas, Viana, Acuna, Shearer, Bellamy, Ameobi, LuaLua, Chopra.
