Taylor seeks expert opinion
Ian Taylor is to see a specialist to try and find a remedy for his calf problem.
Taylor suffered the injury in Aston Villa's Intertoto Cup clash with Lille.
A scan has revealed no apparent serious damage but he was still feeling uncomfortable when attempting a comeback on the training ground earlier this week.
Boss Graham Taylor said: "Ian has got this calf problem which he has had scanned and that hasn't shown anything that we should concern ourselves about.
"But he is going to have someone else look at it because he still doesn't feel happy with it. He would like to get to the bottom of it and so would we.
"It is frustrating for Ian and he is trying to get this problem sorted out. He is frustrated because he's had different injuries over the last season or two.
"It is also a disadvantage to the club because the one thing you know about Ian Taylor is that he will come forward from midfield and it will be unlikely that he will go 90 minutes without at least a couple of shots on goal.
"He has always had that knack throughout his career of being able to pop up with a decent quota of goals for a midfielder."
Meanwhile, Darius Vassell has resumed light training after suffering a hamstring injury in the defeat at Bolton.
That ruled Vassell out of England's friendly international with Portugal on his home ground on Saturday.
Taylor said: "He is in light training. We have the game with Birmingham City on Monday and I am sure he is looking forward to that but whether he will be fit, we will just have to wait and see."
