Southampton 2 Chelsea 2 - match report
Frank Lampard provided another late show to rescue Chelsea with an 80th-minute equaliser after Frenchman Fabrice Fernandes gave Southampton a well-deserved 52nd-minute lead at St Mary’s.
Chelsea removed Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink after a poor first-half display, but his replacement Eidur Gudjohnsen missed two good chances before setting up Lampard’s leveller.
Lampard finally unlocked the Saints defence with 10 minutes left.
He took a pass from Gudjohnsen before firing the ball home from 18-yards.
Both teams pressed, but neither could find a winner.
