Real 'poised to sign Ronaldo for €48m'

Real Madrid are poised to sign Ronaldo from Inter Milan for €48m, Spanish newspapers say.

The leading sports daily Marca said the deal could go through "in a matter of hours".

Ronaldo was left out of Inter's squad for tonight's Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon.

And Inter president Massimo Moratti's said yesterday that Ronaldo could leave if the club received "a serious offer".

Inter and Madrid have already initiated negotiations, paving the way for a meeting between Moratti and his Madrid counterpart Florentino Perez.

Reports suggest Madrid would offer €48m, but Madrid may also need to bolster their bid by including one or several players in the deal, possibly French international midfielder Claude Makelele or Brazilian international midfielder Flavio Conceicao.
