Lovenkrands wants to stick with Rangers

Peter Lovenkrands admits he is desperate to secure his long-term future at Rangers.

The pacy winger has become a favourite at Ibrox since his £1.3m (€2.1m) move from AB Copenhagen in 2000.

His agent Ivan Benes has already claimed that his performances have attracted admiring glances from Inter Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

But Lovenkrands claims he has no intention of leaving the less glamorous surroundings of Govan.

He told the Rangers News: “I’m just happy here and I don’t see any reason to move away to another club where I might have to start all over again.

“If I joined another club I might have to accept a place on the bench, but I feel I have a chance of starting the game with Rangers in the season ahead so that is a major consideration.

“There has been some interest in me from other clubs but I don’t want to play for anyone else right now.

“My agent and I are hoping to negotiate an extension to my contract so that I can stay here in Scotland for as long as possible.

“Even if I wasn’t getting a regular game I would still be happy at Rangers because the whole atmosphere is excellent.

“It’s important for me to get an extension because it gives me peace of mind. I want to play for Rangers and, when everything is sorted, it means I can fully concentrate on football.”
