World Cup winner Gilberto Silva's transfer to Arsenal is apparently in jeopardy because his club are slow in paying their debts, according to reports in Brazil.

Silva's Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro agreed last week to sell their star midfielder to the Gunners for around £4.5m (€7.17m).

The newspaper says that Atletico Mineiro's president Alexandre Kalil planned to use the money from Silva's transfer to pay old debts and delayed salaries.
