Boro agree fee for Boateng

Middlesbrough today confirmed they have agreed an undisclosed fee with Aston Villa for midfielder George Boateng.

The Teessiders and the 26-year-old Dutchman, who is expected to cost them around £5m (€8m), will now discuss personal terms as manager Steve McClaren attempts to take the latest step in his summer overhaul.

‘‘We have agreed a fee with Aston Villa and we are now discussing personal terms with the player and his advisors,’’ said a club spokesman.
