De La Cruz hoping for Villa move
Ecuador defender Ulises de la Cruz is hoping that the way will soon be clear for him to sign for Aston Villa.
The 28-year-old - who played a starring role for his country in the World Cup - is currently in Finland on a pre-season tour with Hibernian, who own his rights.
‘‘The money Aston Vila offered me is really good, but now I’m waiting for Hibernian’s approval,’’ de la Cruz told Ecuadorian radio station La Luna.
‘‘I have followed Aston Villa’s campaign in the Premiership. They have good players, and I won’t have problems fitting in with their fast game.
‘‘Moving there would be another dream that comes true for me.’’
De la Cruz previously played for Deportivo Quito, Aucas, Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito and Barcelona in his home country, and Cruzeiro in Brazil.
