Wise given free transfer

Dennis Wise has been given a free transfer by Leicester City.

The former England international was sent home from a pre-season tour of Finland following an incident which left Foxes team-mate Callum Davidson with a double fracture of the cheekbone.

The Foxes confirmed earlier today that club captain Matt Elliott was available on a free transfer as the club look to cut their cloth for life in Division One.

Wise was suspended by City pending an inquiry into what went on in Finland, but the club are now prepared to offload the former Wimbledon and Chelsea star.

He joined the Foxes in June 2001 in a £1.6m (€2.5m) move from Chelsea, making 19 appearances and scoring once.

He has 21 caps for England, and has scored one goal for his country.
