Ferdinand due to fly out with Leeds

His advisers are understood to feel it impossible now for the player to stay at Leeds under any circumstances, given the feelings of the fans towards him.

Manchester United's attempts to prise Ferdinand away from Leeds ended in deadlock after the Elland Road club rejected a bid for the England defender.

The Manchester club made an improved offer following their original bid, which was rejected out of hand.
