Blackburn have ended their interest in Leeds’ wantaway defender Michael Duberry.

Blackburn made an enquiry two months ago, but now boss Graeme Souness is content with his defensive options following Andy Todd’s signing and Henning Berg’s decision to commit his future to the club.

Rovers chief executive John Williams said in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: ‘‘It’s true that we made an initial enquiry about Michael two months ago, but we decided not to go through with that.

"Since then we’ve also signed Andy Todd and Henning Berg has committed his future to the club so our interest has cooled now in that direction."

Despite Rovers’ rebuttal, Duberry’s agent Phil Graham is still confident he can find a new club for the player who has told Leeds manager Terry Venables he wants to leave because of his lack of first-team opportunities.

Graham claims Bolton and Everton are interested in the former Chelsea centre-half, while Celtic have also been mentioned.
