McGuire assumes sole PFA role

Mick McGuire has been appointed sole deputy chief executive of the Professional Footballers Association in England.

The former Norwich midfielder previously held the position jointly with Brendon Batson, who leaves the PFA this week to become managing director of newly-promoted Premiership club West Brom.

After a 16-year playing career which also took in spells at Coventry, Barnsley and Oldham, McGuire has enjoyed a long association with the PFA.

He spent 16 years working as PFA assistant chief executive and also spent five years on the management committee.
