Germans disconsolate after World Cup defeat
Germany midfielder Bernd Schneider conceded that failure in front of goal was the reason they lost to Brazil in World Cup.
Brazil had no such problems with the prolific Ronaldo taking his tally in the tournament to eight with a clinical second-half double as Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men ran out 2-0 winners.
The Germans dominated possession in the first half but struggled to carve out many clear-cut chances.
The second half was more open and Brazil keeper Marcos was called into action to acrobatically deny Oliver Neuville and substitute Oliver Bierhoff.
‘‘We played well today but could not score,’’ Schneider said before refusing to delve too deeply into the emotions he was experiencing.
‘‘My feelings are a matter of privacy, which should not be discussed here,’’ he added.
