SFA in talks with Bonhoff
Scotland are close to appointing former Germany World Cup hero Rainer Bonhoff as the nation's new under-21 coach.
Bonhoff was Berti Vogts' assistant during Euro 96, when Germany won the competition, and Vogts is keen to bring him on board.
SFA chief executive David Taylor confirmed talks were scheduled with Bonhoff, who is coming to the end of a coaching spell in Kuwait.
He said: "I will have discussions with Rainer Bonhoff. He's going to come over to, hopefully, reach an agreement to take over the under-21 side.
"It is by no means a done deal though."
The under-21s have not played since October, when their unsuccessful European Championship qualifying campaign ended under Alex Smith.
