Zidane winning fitness race

Zinedine Zidane has a chance of being fit for France’s vital Group A clash with Uruguay in Busan on Thursday.

The inspirational midfielder missed France’s opener against Senegal because of a thigh injury and could only watch as the holders slipped to a shock 1-0 defeat in Seoul.

But French team doctor Jean-Marcel Ferret revealed there is hope that Zidane could return to boost France for a second match that they must win.

‘‘It isn’t impossible that he will play against Uruguay but we won’t take any risks,’’ he said.

‘‘The injury is coming along and the next two or three day will be key.’’
