Rudi Voller is hoping the team spirit in the Germany camp will enable them to overcome their crippling injury problems.

The Germans go into the World Cup finals without defensive lynchpins Christian Worns and Jens Novotny as well as creative midfielders Sebastian Deisler and Mehmet Scholl.

But Voller has revealed their absence has only served to strengthen the resolve of the players who will now carry Germany’s hopes in Japan and South Korea.

‘‘It is all coming together now and they are all eager to play,’’ Voller said.

‘‘Without team spirit nothing will work in a team sport. We have to stick together.

‘‘Team spirit is the key to a good season and to a good World Cup tournament.’’
