Danish preparations hinge on fitness
Denmark’s preparations for the World Cup have turned to fitness after Morten Olsen’s squad settled into their Wakayama base.
The Danish players underwent stringent physical examinations to make sure they are in peak condition ahead of their opening Group A match with Uruguay.
‘‘The players aren’t at the same stage of fitness,’’ said Olsen. ‘‘Some have played a lot recently and others just a little.
‘‘We use pulse-watches to see that each player gets the best possible training.
‘‘It’s a bit of a science, but it’s good when the players aren’t at the same physical level,’’ he added.
‘‘Maybe the players need another 10 seconds break between the different exercises,’’ said national team physio Allan Poulsen.
‘‘We have already seen how some players must be rested differently to others.’’
