French are spirited lot - Henry

France and Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has criticised England’s team spirit.

Henry believes French team spirit has been key in his national side’s march to World Cup and European Championship glory.

But the Highbury hero, Arsenal’s leading goalscorer as they lifted the Premiership title and FA Cup this season, does not believe the same spirit exists in Sven-Goran Eriksson’s England squad.

‘‘The most important thing is team spirit and in England the internationals don’t even shake hands when they meet before league games,’’ Henry told The News Of The World.

‘‘We, on the other hand, talk to our French team-mates before and after games and congratulate each other, whatever the result.

‘‘The spirit in the French squad is like that of a club.

‘‘Our status may have changed, but our spirit remains the same. We always want to do well and bring something to the team.’’
