Lille midfielder Bruno Cheyrou has completed his move to Liverpool, according to reports in France.

La Voix du Nord, a Lille-based newspaper, has reported the 24-year-old Cheyrou had moved to Anfield for £4m (€6.4m) and signed a five-year contract.

Lille president Michel Seydoux is reported to have claimed the transfer took place on Wednesday, but a Liverpool spokesman was unable to confirm the deal had been completed.

Cheyrou, who started his career at RC Lens, joined Lille in 1997.

He scored 15 goals this season for the French first division side.

He has been one of the most coveted players in France and scored against Manchester United during this season's Champions League first group phase.
