Solskjaer hurting over fruitless season

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he is still hurting over Manchester United’s failure to retain their Premiership crown.

The Norwegian striker has known almost non-stop success at Old Trafford since his move to United in 1996.

But after a season in which Alex Ferguson’s side have ended up empty handed for the first time since 1998 season, the 29-year-old revealed Arsenal’s Double triumph would take some getting over.

‘‘The last 10-12 days have been so disappointing, it still hurts,’’ Solskjaer told Norwegian newspaper Nettavisen.

‘‘When we’ve won the league previously, I’ve enjoyed it for a couple of days, and then started to look forward, but this is so much worse.

‘‘The last few weeks will take some time to get over, it will probably trouble me all summer.’’

When asked how United can wrest the Premiership title back from Arsenal next season, Solksjaer said: ‘‘It’s simple, we have to beat Arsenal home and away.

‘‘That’s the key we’re talking 12 decisive points just there, six for us, six less for them. That’ll make us champions again.’’

Solskjaer is expected to start up-front as Norway face Japan tomorrow in an international friendly.
