Champions League: Veron back for United

Juan Sebastian Veron is ready to return for Manchester United against Bayer Leverkusen in tomorrow’s Champions League semi-final first leg at Old Trafford.

The midfielder was rested on Saturday after having more treatment on a troublesome Achilles tendon injury but looks certain to return after an outstanding performance in the last round.

Veron played for 73 minutes in the win over Deportivo La Coruna and had a hand in all three United goals.

With David Beckham and Ronny Johnsen joining skipper Roy Keane on the injured list, Alex Ferguson is forced to change his line-up from the quarter-finals.

England defender Wes Brown will take over from Johnsen while Paul Scholes, suspended for the Deportivo game, will return.

Quinton Fortune or Phil Neville look likely to step down from Saturday’s line-up at Chelsea and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could also be back on the bench even though he scored his seventh goal in five games at Stamford Bridge.
