International: Jansen following Vassell’s example

Matt Jansen has admitted he is taking encouragement from the example of Darius Vassell as he aims to make the most of his 11th-hour chance to secure a place in Sven-Goran Eriksson’s World Cup squad.

Aston Villa striker Vassell had appeared to be down the pecking order for Japan and South Korea until he scored a stunning goal on his international debut against Holland in Amsterdam in February.
