SPL: Rangers 'has what it takes' - Lovenkrands
Rangers winger Peter Lovenkrands admits no-one expects Celtic to ease up now the Scottish Premier League title is won - but he still reckons his side have what it takes to lift the Scottish Cup next month.
Alex McLeish’s in-form side are desperate to get their hands on some silverware of their own after their bitter Old Firm rivals finally secured the SPL championship with a 5-1 win over Livingston on Saturday.
A CIS Cup semi-final victory over Martin O’Neill’s outfit helped Rangers loosen the Parkhead men’s stranglehold on the nation’s trophies following Celtic’s treble last term.
The Glasgow giants are preparing to lock horns on May 4 with a double up for grabs for both sides and Lovenkrands is determined it will be Rangers who come out on top.
‘‘Everybody is looking forward to the cup final and I think we’re going to win it,’’ he said. ‘‘You know that Celtic are not going to take their foot off the pedal. They’re a good team and it’s going to be a tough game. I just hope that we come out as the winners.’’
